After some time in 1978 Bahawalpur Board was also established independently and at last 1989 Dera Ghazi Khan board also got separated therefore now jurisdiction of Multan board consist of districts Multan, Khanewal, Vehari and Lodhran as with time population of the city was growing therefore these changes were made.

Punjab education commission was formed in the year 2005 and that was by government of Punjab its main purpose was actually to monitor and control the examination for 5th and 8th class. Main objective of the board while supervising it is to conduct examination for 5th, 8th, 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th class examination. Many schools and colleges those are government of private are affiliated with the board. Text books used by the board are of Punjab text book board and these are authentic with editions revised time to time. Examinations are conducted in various languages, Urdu, English and other classical languages.
